Hi!
I have a confession to make.
I am a snob.
Not one of those generic snobs where I look down at everything/everyone. I think that's just bitchy. Nooooooooo...I think a true snob is someone who is just extremely knowledgeable about a certain topic which makes them very discerning with regards to it.
I am a performance snob; especially circus, sideshow and bellydance. I've been doing these for nearly 20 years. Anywhere from technique, to presentation to costuming/make-up is susceptible. The more professional a person claims to be, the more critical I tend to be. My hub makes fun of me for it but he also is becoming one himself just from being around me.
I am a body art snob. This one I am quite bad about. I grew up with an uncle who was an award winning tattoo artist. I've won competitions for my henna and body painting designs. I can see the flaws in a piece of body art from miles away.
I have two friends who are absolute wine snobs. I've never seen anything like it. One who is an amazing comfort food snob. One who is a word snob (she is the worst person to edit anything because she misses tone and intention to focus on the wording). It just goes on.
The special thing is when we find someone/something good then it's a true celebration of inspiration. We do, find someone/something good in that topic, btw. Sometimes rarely but it happens.
I've come to believe that everyone is a snob about something. We all know something well and are very passionate about it. It's not a bad thing at all, so long as it's kept under control.
What are you a snob about? How did you come to be that way? Have you been able to find someone/something that lived up to or exceeded your standards?
